How often do you get from one
place to another and not clearly
recall the moments in
between?
Perhaps you are
driving 30 minutes to a business
meeting and once arrived, you feel
stressed. Alternatively, do you
even remember the few steps you
take when you leave your front
door at home and open the door of
your car to slide in?
Why do we miss the points in
between?
They are just as important if not
MORE important than your
destination.
You see, when all we are thinking
about is getting to the meeting on
time, then we are living in the
future...what happened to now?
Does it ever occur to you that
you can miss some very
important life lessons and
beauty just from driving?
Could
be there is a tree you pass that
looks exactly like the tree you used
to climb as a child, and it gives you
a spiritual rush of that very moment
in time when all was just as all
was.....the present moment.
We didn't worry about much of
anything, did  we.... when we were
children?  We were present.  We
showed up for ourselves and let
ourselves be free of mental clutter.
However, as years start to add up,
and life unfolds, we begin to create
layers of stress and baggage from
life experiences, instead of taking
care.
Often times this is when people
"find Yoga" or meditation...they are
seeking the tool to strip the layers
down...back to that child...back to
the peacefulness of just being.
Isn't it funny ...we create ourselves
as we age....but then (hopefully)
we learn to find ourselves as we
really are, as we are meant to be.

Aromatherapy

Pure essential oils are the most
powerful form of a healing plant. The
precious essential oils are not, in fact,
“oily”, but rather very volatile
substances. When you pick a fresh herb
& bruise a leaf, the aroma you smell is
the essential oil being released from
scent glands in the leaf. The unique
thing about essential oils is that when
inhaled they are absorbed into the
bloodstream and have a
direct effect
on the brain
. In the bloodstream, the
aromatic molecules of essential oils
interact with the body’s chemistry. They
provide a
positive frequency to the
body and they contain o
xygenating
molecules
which transport nutrients
into the cells.  Essential Oils go into the
body and enhance the ability of the
body to do what it is supposed to do
naturally. It has been demonstrated
that we can change our tendency and
the negativism that accompanies it by
the application of essential oils carrying
higher frequencies that uplift the spirits.
Oils highest in Mega Hertz
frequencies are Helichrysum,
Lavender and Rose.

The beauty of Aromatherapy is that
there are so many wonderful methods of
application. You can simply smell them.
You can
diffuse essential oils into a
room.
You can use them in massage
therapy
, or Vita Flex therapy. You can
apply a
compress to the body. You can
put them into a
bath or use in sprays or
spritzers.

In my
healing practice I use pure
essential oils for many things, some of
these include, headaches,
inflammations, injuries & wounds, insect
bites, pain relief, hormonal balancing,
burns, scaring, depression, sleep
disorders and much more.
To learn more about aromatherapy and
essential oils I suggest these great
books. “

What's Under
YOUR Bed?

I'll never forget the day my mother
uncovered the secret I had been using to
keep my room so tidy.  I had a double
bed, and whenever it was time to clean
up, I would sweep everything into a pile,
and slide it all right under there.  A little
bit of dusting and my room looked
gorgeous.   Until ….

It was time for the monthly “deep down
cleaning”.   In the course of  vacuuming,
my mom ran into “something” under the
bed.  The look on her face when she
lifted the bed skirt said it all.

I cringed, swallowed hard, and waited.
What followed was a colorful description
of my character shortcomings – the word
“slob” peppering every other sentence.

As I began the formidable chore of
organizing the giant mess under my own
bed, I was overcome with a deep sense
of fatigue.  I felt as though I'd been
deprived of sleep for days.  The clock
moved in slow motion as I sorted, threw
out, and stored my badly neglected
belongings.  When I was finally finished,
and the room had passed my mother's
inspection, it was as though I had been
reborn.  I bounded out of the back door
into the yard outside, a vision of energy
and joy.

It occurred to me that our lives can be
just like that bedroom. On the surface,
everything looks pretty good.  We put on
a happy face, and go about our
business.  Under that fragile facade,
however lurks a disorganized pile of self-
judgment, fear, anxiety and doubt.
Ignoring and resisting the contents of our
unconscious minds can keep us in a
state of depression and fatigue.  If it
goes on long enough, it can lead to
chronic pain and illness.

So, how do we go about clearing out
some of that clutter?

For me, the first step is noticing what
tapes are constantly playing in my mind.
As a singer, songs often hold the key.   I
recently noticed that when I mentally
practiced the song, “Someone to Watch
Over Me”, I kept singing, “someone to
walk out on me.”  That was a clear sign
that my abandonment “issues” were still
alive and well!  I had a clear indication of
where to focus.

Make a point of paying attention to what
you say to and about, yourself.  If you find
that you're berating yourself for not doing
better, knowing better, etc., ask yourself,
“Where does that come from?” You may
realize that it is simply an idea implanted
by a parent, teacher, or even the
media.

Being mindful of what you're constantly
thinking is a good place to start, but
noticing usually isn't enough.  Learn to
release the self-limiting judgments, and
then forgive yourself for having them.  Be
as understanding with yourself as you
would be with a small child.  You're no
doubt doing the best you can.  Life is too
short to be lived with someone you don't
like – especially if that someone is you.
